OUT OF THE BLUE, SOUND DOGS, AND IMPRESSIONS
WIN HART COMPETITION.   IN SYNC TAKES SECOND.

WOW!  What a day--and night--at Hart High yesterday.

In what-is-believed to be our best one-day showing ever, Burbank
High's 4 show choirs took 3 Firsts and 1 Second in the Hart Encore
competition.

The day got off to a Hart-stopping start, however, as the two buses took a
wrong turn and got lost for about 20 minutes--and last week's incorrect email
directions caused several parents to drive to the wrong school and, in a couple
cases, miss the first choir's set. Add to this Hart's complicated and confusing ticket situation and you had a very hectic beginning:

Well, the buses finally arrived just as parents were frantically trying to unload the truck.
The boys rushed to get risers onto the stage.
It was only minutes to showtime for Sound Dogs.

But everyone came through like troopers...the boys took the stage
and took the audience by storm.    First Place!  For their first performance
of the year.

Then, it was Out of the Blue's turn.   They, too, wasted no time dressing and getting into makeup and then scored their big victory.  Another First Place!   The Burbank machine rumbled on....

In the evening session, Impressions competed in an incredibly competitive Advanced
All Girls division.    And...won it!    First Place!     (It was reported that Burroughs'
respected director Mary Rago complimented Mr. Carroll and told him it was the
best Impressions set she'd ever seen.   And she's been around for 25 years!)

Then In Sync took the stage and blew the audience away with an extemely tight
and energetic performance.    It's a measure of how far this program has come
(in such a short time) that, to a man--and woman--they were all extremely
disappointed in finishing a close second.   And all are pointing to this Friday's Arcadia
competition as their chance to get back on top.   (Alas, Burroughs took first--even the Burbank
kids and parents who witnessed it said they were at the very top of their game.)

All in all, it was a remarkable day that demonstrated the rare and amazing depth that
our program has developed.   More than anything, it is a testament to Mr. Carroll's
incredible talent, dedication and endless hours of hard work.   Along with the
incredible talent, dedication and endless hours of hard work of our fantastic kids.

Think about that:  We're now halfway through the competition season--and the
lowest any choir has finished is second.    No high school in Southern California
could ever boast a record like that.   Ever.

Be sure to congratulate your student today...

By the way...10 more days till New York!

(PS  Extra Hart-warming thanks, too, to Lisa Murray and Kim Taylor, the choir coordinators--Marjorie Singer, Denise & Chuck Inouye and Rima Shideler--Shawn & Kaylene Stevens, Trevor Rush, the tech crew and band and all the MANY other parents who pitched in the morning, afternoon and evening.   We really appreciate it.)

OOTB Earns Second Prize At Glendora Competition

What a day it was on Saturday. Impressions managed a full sweep of available prizes winning 1st place, Best Showmanship Award, as well as Best Musicianship Award.

OOTB gave a terrific performance Saturday beating other groups such as Hart, Burroughs, and many more. Once Upon A Dream, blew many audience members away. "It was the best of any group all night." was what one had to say about it.

OOTB is going to be busy again these next weeks ramping up for more upcoming competitions and even possibly adding another number. First place for Burbank High's OOTB is just around the corner. Watch out world!
